Why I’m here

IMG_1542Hi.  I’m Laura.  I am 28 years old and I live in the GTA in Ontario,Canada.  The reason I am starting this blog is because I used to be a happy, vibrant, healthy young lady with a zest for life and a love of everything!  From fitness, wellness, cooking, beauty and fashion.  Ask anyone who knew me then and they would tell you my love of anything green was borderline obsessive.

That was about three years ago in 2012 before my life changing trip to a Caribbean destination that I will likely, oops I mean, NEVER visit again.

I am starting this blog to track my journey to getting myself back to that healthy young lady with a zest for life.  I’ve sadly become more like a rancid lemon these days- all because of my declining health and inability to do the things that I love.

I don’t even remember how to be that person anymore.  I’d need to use all my fingers and toes to count the number of doctors, naturopaths, specialists, so on and so forth that I have seen in the past three years of my ‘life’. Most of which either send me away as an enigma saying “sorry can’t help you unless you take these drugs” or “you don’t look like you’re in pain”.

I am here to show you that appearances can be deceiving…and I should receive an academy award for my ‘smile and act like nothing hurts and that your head is not pounding, feel like you might throw up any second, not exhausted dragging my limbs ’ face.  It’s not the same face I have when I am housebound most of the day, pretty much every day, shuffling from bed to couch.

I will do my best to write what’s happening everyday and share healthy recipes and ideas as I go.  I am not here to gain popularity, I am here to track my journey so that I will be able to look back from where I started.  Wish me luck!

  1. Hi Laura,
I am not to sure how blogs work but it looks great to me. I met your mom in a FB Lymes group. Keep up the fight. We and when I say we I mean my husband, are a few weeks ahead of you. We been to the U.S. in May and am now on antibiotics based on a clinical assessment, we should have results from Igenex in the next week or two. We will be attending a Lymes support group in Hamilton in June. Maybe you will make it to the meeting in July. Good luck.
