Perk me up & Fill me up Smoothie

First, you  must know, this does contain caffeine (from coffee)

Just a tiny little half a cup though!  Just enough to give me the boost I needed today.  And I cheated a little and had a banana…I do that every now and again.  I try to listen to my body when it is asking for something…today it needed a boost of Potassium!



1/2 c chilled coffee

1/4 c coconut milk

1 tbsp chia seeds

2 tbsp gluten free rolled oats

2 tbsp flax meal

Frozen Banana

2 medjool dates (or your choice of sweetener)

Pinch of Cinnamon

4 Ice cubes

Blend away until super creamy and enjoy a filling morning treat with an extra little boost.


I forgot the medjool dates in my picture. I am always forgetting something these days!

I felt a little guilty for the banana, so I had to justify eating it.  Here are some reasons why bananas ARE good for you:

Contain Potassium which can help muscle cramping after exercise

Good Source of Vitamin C to help boost your immune system

Vitamin B-6  which helps your body produce new cells

Fibre to help you feel fuller longer and keep your digestive system running smoothly

And among many other things, bananas are easy to digest.
