This is an old fave that I used to make when I first tested the waters of the smoothie world before I was brave enough to experiment…
It is super simple, creamy and yummy!
Of course I had to throw a little kale into old faithful to give it a little green power!
1 1/2 c fresh strawberries
1 frozen banana
1/2 c kale
1/2 unsweetened coconut milk (beverage)
Optional: 1 tsp honey, 1 additional banana to make it extra creamy
Combine all ingredients in a high speed blender and blend until thick and creamy.
Pour into a glass and enjoy this sweet delicious treat 🙂
This smoothie is full of great ingredients and is absolutely delicious. Perfect for a post workout recovery beverage or really any time.
The pretty pink colour is nice to look at as well 🙂
Here are a few benefits of some of the superstar key ingredients in this Smoothie:
Coconut water helps to replenish lost electrolytes to hydrate the body and keep the muscles functioning.
Hemp seeds aid in building lean muscle as well as recovery.
Bananas give you a boost of energy and help to maintain blood sugar levels.
1 1/2 c pure coconut water (chilled)
1 small ripe banana, peeled
1/2 c frozen pineapple
1/2 c frozen wild blueberries
1/4 c raw shelled hemp seeds
1/2 Lemon, juice of
Combine all ingredients in a high speed blender. Blend until smooth.
Pour into your glass of choice and serve immediately.
I hope you enjoy this delicious recovery smoothie. You can also substitute hemp seeds for a scoop of your favourite protein powder if you don’t have them on hand!
I had some leftover Put the Lime in the Coconut Smoothie and Blueberry Chia Pudding in the fridge from the other day, so naturally I decided to put together the most delicious pretty parfait for breakfast.
I added a few other layers of goodness for extra creaminess and crunch and here is what I ended up with! A thing of beauty. And so fun to dig into!
I simply layered the following ingredients in this order:
Raw buckwheat groats
My Blueberry Chia pudding
Tbsp of plain greek yogurt (lactose free) coconut yogurt would work great as well
Tsp of my Strawberry Chia Seed Jam
Raw Buckwheat groats
My Put the Lime in the Coconut Smoothie
I topped everything off with a dollop of the Blueberry chia Pudding, frozen berries, sprinkle of chia seeds and some dried goji berries.
This was so much fun to create and even more fun to eat. Such a wide variety of flavours and textures keep the tastebuds tantalized.
I hope this post inspires you to recreate this fun parfait or create one of your own! The options are truly endless! Experiment and try different flavours together!
Have a wonderful Sunday 🙂
I have been a little obsessed with making my smoothies and meals look a little more scrumptious. I was not being visually stimulated enough by my smoothies any longer.
I was loving this tangy yet sweet concoction this morning. Yummm
Onwards an upwards to the next level smoothies, overflowing with yum and goodness.
Oh, and let me assure you, this is not complicated, in fact it is easy. All you have to do is get a little creative, a little messy and throw in a dash of whatever you have lying around!
Please excuse my nails…I am in desperate need of a mani/pedi!
Toppings pictured: Sliced kiwi, puffed quinoa, frozen raspberries, shredded unsweetened coconut
Ingredients for Smoothie:
1 c coconut water
1 c frozen pineapple
1 scoop greens powder
1 kiwi, peeled
1 tbsp raw cashews
1 tbsp coconut oil
Juice of 2 limes
Combine all ingredients in a high speed blender until smooth.
Drink as is or make it a little fun and heartier and add some other toppings!
To layer as somewhat of a smoothie parfait as pictured, pour a little smoothie into your glass or jar, add sliced kiwi around the edges, throw a little puffed quinoa in there and fill up the rest with smoothie.
Sprinkle a bit of unsweetened coconut on top along with some quinoa puffs and berries, grab a spoon and dig in!
As always, I hope you enjoy and would love feedback or suggestions!
I have made this smoothie many times and I always enjoy it! This is a recipe from Angela Liddon of Oh She Glows. If you have never heard of her, you MUST check out her website full of amazingness HERE.
I have never tried a recipe from my fellow Oakvillian’s (made up word?) cookbook or website that I do not absolutely love!!! This smoothie is no exception. Here is the original recipe for Pink Power Detox Smoothie.
I used a Golden Beet this time so the colour isn’t as much fun as the regular bright pink, but still tasty 🙂
Ingredients I used:
- 1 cup coconut water
- 1/2 medium avocado, pitted
- 2 celery stalks, roughly chopped
- 1 cup strawberries (frozen preferred), hulled if necessary
- 1 small/medium beet (I used golden this time, peeled and chopped-ends removed)
- 1 lemon, juiced (about 3 tablespoons or so)
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 4 large ice cubes
You can also add an apple for sweetness if you like, as Angela suggests.
Blend all ingredients in high speed blender until smooth. Serve and enjoy! I did!
I knew Button liked coffee, but apparently she likes smoothies now as well.
Just like her Momma 🙂 haha
No, I didn’t drink this one afterwards…luckily the other half was still in my Vitamix!
Thanks a lot Button! lol
